PART ONE/?
East of Eden by John Steinbeck I have an odd affection for all of Steinbeck’s work, but for some reason I especially love this one- perhaps because I can’t resist a great villain. The first part, about Adam and Charles, is simply one of the most brutally affecting pieces of writing ever written. The subtlety and tragedy in their relationship both moved and terrified me.
